About this place

Overlapping concrete galleries that flow like a frozen river. Worth visiting for the architecture regardless of the exhibition.

Zaha Hadid's National Museum of 21st Century Arts opened in 2010 on the site of former military barracks in Rome's Flaminio district. Long concrete galleries curve, overlap and cross like bundled streams, joined by suspended black steel stairs and top-lit through fins in the glass roof. One of the historic barracks buildings is kept at the front, and the museum houses both art and architecture collections.
