A complex of restored industrial buildings and new pavilions designed by OMA/Rem Koolhaas. One of the most intellectually ambitious art institutions in Europe — every space feels considered.
Fondazione Prada's Milan venue occupies a former 1910s gin distillery in the Largo Isarco district, converted by OMA under Rem Koolhaas and opened in 2015. Seven existing industrial buildings are kept alongside three new structures — the Podium exhibition hall, a cinema and the nine-storey Torre completed in 2018 — so old and new are read as a single campus of courtyards and passages. The 'Haunted House', a former distillery tower clad in 24-carat gold leaf, and Bar Luce, designed by film director Wes Anderson, are the complex's most recognisable moments.
