About this place
A long barn-like gallery in the Hamptons. Herzog & de Meuron stripped away all heroics and built something honest and quiet. Natural light, local vernacular, great art.
Herzog & de Meuron's Parrish Art Museum (2012) in Water Mill, Long Island, takes the form of two long, parallel artist-studio barns under a single gabled roof, with deep eaves shading an outdoor porch. North-facing skylights light the galleries in the manner of the painters' studios for which the area is known.
