About this place
Interlocking sandstone-colored discs inspired by desert roses. Jean Nouvel's building IS the collection — a form that belongs completely to its landscape.
Jean Nouvel's National Museum of Qatar (2019) in Doha is built from interlocking disks inspired by the desert rose crystal, wrapping around the restored palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani. The disks form roofs, walls and shading, and the galleries trace Qatar's history from its geology to the present.
