About this place
A dome of 7,850 unique metal stars floats over white pavilions on the water. Shafts of light pierce through like a date palm canopy. The approach by boat is unforgettable.
Jean Nouvel's Louvre Abu Dhabi opened in 2017 on Saadiyat Island. A 180-metre dome of eight layers of patterned steel and aluminium shelters a 'museum city' of white galleries and plazas surrounded by water, and filters sunlight into a moving 'rain of light'. The collection presents art from across civilisations in a single chronological sequence.
