About this place
A museum of contemporary art that bends and curves to bring northern light into the galleries. Holl's interlock between nature, city, and architecture.
Steven Holl's Kiasma, Helsinki's museum of contemporary art, opened in 1998 beside the Parliament House and Finlandia Hall. Its curved form 'intertwines' two volumes, and galleries of varying shapes are lit by carefully calibrated natural light from curved roofs, with a long ramp tying the building together.
